Brett Dusz teaches physical education and leads a unique cycling program where students learn essential bicycle safety before hitting the road. His class teaches students how to properly check air pressure, brakes, and chains, and guides them through on-road cycling skills, including passing techniques and identifying safety hazards.
The program was started by Brett and Principal Stanbrook two years ago after they completed a bicycle safety class. Their goal was to provide students with fun and safe alternative activities during the school day.
Thanks to a generous donation from Pima County, the program has plenty of bicycles available for student use.
Students enjoy hands-on learning while gaining confidence and real-world skills on their bikes. Brett emphasizes safety, responsibility, and fun, making this program a standout option for students looking to stay active and engaged.
